going to quito to serve in june/questions/teaching

Hello
I am looking for former volunteers who have some insight into teaching at university level in ecuador. what can I expect ? what resources should I bring? I am thinking of sending some teaching materials- does anyone have advice on how to do this cheaply?
I was also wondering about how teachers actually dress , and about safety in Quito. any advice on things I should bring
