Newsletter editor

We are seeking someone with 3-4 hours of monthly free time who can pull together content from a variety of sources for a quarterly newsletter.  You would have significant flexibility designing the layout and content, working with the FoE management team on the publication's direction.  In the future, we would like to create issue themes, add RPCV and PCV stories, include content from the National Peace Corps Assocation and highlight innovative developments in Ecuador, the Peace Corps and related topics.  If you would like to volunteer or find out more, please e-mail us.

Donations Coordinator
Friends of Ecuador is seeking help with managing donations to Featured Projects. We have an innovative system that we are trying whereby grassroots groups apply to be a Featured Project by filling out the basic application. We check their references, and if the organization looks legitimate and we do not have too many Featured Projects listed at the same time, we will feature that organization on the website until their fundraising goals are met. We then will send out an e-mail to our membership to let them know about the projects featured on the site. Members will have an opportunity to vote with their money and support the organizations they like. Each on-line donation goes to the Friends of Ecuador bank account and is tagged on-line with its destination based on the name in the drop-down menu in our credit card transactions page. We will bundle the donations and send a check down to the organization when its fundraising goals are met. Your main job will be to read through the applications, check for completeness, and e-mail the organization and the list of references. Your other main duties would be keeping track of donations on-line as they come in and progress reports that organizations we've supported are supposed to file six months after receiving funding. The job is pretty straight forward and should not demand more than an hour or two a week. It is a critical job for the organization. E-mail us if you are interested!

Database Manager

The Database Manager is responsible for updating the on-line list of members of Friends of Ecuador. The Database is perhaps the most important piece of information we have on all the various contacts of the organization. The FOE database is linked to the website and also draws on the National Peace Corps Association's on-line database. The main task for the Database Manager is to keep track of new members who join through the NPCA or through FOE's website and people whose membership has expired. The management task is pretty easy and can be do on-line with minimal training and no knowledge of computer languages. What makes it a little more complex is that we have different classes of members: (1) NPCA members (2) people who join Friends of Ecuador only (3) current volunteers (4) unpaid users of the site, and (6) past members. We have an easy way to classify people and move them into different categories. This job should only take an hour or two per week. If you are interested in helping manage the database, please e-mail us
