Friends of Ecuador (FoE) has had a long history of activity dating back to 1986. The group has kept the returned Peace Corps community informed and engaged in projects in Ecuador. After a temporary lapse in activity, the group reconstituted in 2001 at the 40+1 National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) meeting.
In 2002, the Friends of Ecuador Executive Committee selected six organizations to support, including Jatun Sacha, World Computer Exchange, Fondo Ecuatoriano Populorum Progressio, Peace Corps Partnership, Fundacion Guayaquil, and Viviendas Del Hogar de Cristo.
A new cohort of returned Peace Corps volunteers in Spring 2003 expressed an interest in joining Friends of Ecuador and expanding its mission and potential membership base.
